2) Lighting conditions of the workplace.
As discussed in point 1) the light at the workplace plays a key role in how visible the laser will be. This is a very subjective and variable matter. Few people are going to run around the workplace with a luxmeter to find out what the light level is at the workplace. From experience, a red line laser of up to 5mW power is usable up to 5m away in normal workplace lighting where the sun does not shine. Green 5mW up to about 8m
It all depends on what the weather is like and how well the operator can see. We encounter that in winter, when the sky is overcast, customers tell us that a weaker laser would be enough. On the other hand, in summer - sometimes even twice the power is not enough. The only constant environment is a space without outdoor lighting, relying only on artificial light sources. However, such a space is not very common. There are always some windows, skylights, dormers...
No need to worry. It doesn't mean you're choosing between a state of being and not being seen. The line is always visible in such a workplace. Only depending on the weather more or less. This problem is most pronounced at the far end of the line if the laser is shining longitudinally on the material. You need to consider how often you need perfect visibility at the distance end. Fortunately, we have a range of laser powers... we can help you choose.
